Hungary’s government warns Jewish community about Muslim refugees

Officials from Hungary’s Orbán government, including Minister of Human Resources Zoltán Balog, met with Jewish community leaders this week to discuss new efforts to improve Holocaust education in Hungarian schools and to alert Hungarian Jews to the fact that they too may be “impacted” by the continued wave of refugees, arriving primarily from war-torn Syria and Afghanistan. Based on the report compiled by the Hungarian State News Agency (MTI), ministers of the Orbán government are engaged in a classic example of fear mongering, suggesting very clearly that terrorists who would target Hungarian Jewish communities were lurking amongst the tens of thousands of Muslim refugees.

“The Interior Ministry informed the participants of the roundtable that in contrast to Western Europe, the dangers facing the  Hungarian Jewish community have not increased. Nevertheless, the migration situation in which Hungary now finds itself may affect Hungary’s Jewry,” reads the MTI report of the Jewish Community Roundtable and remarks by Csaba Latorcai, Deputy State Secretary for social and community issues.

Mr. Latorcai added that Hungarian Jewish community leaders have been cooperating with authorities and with the Interior Ministry “on an institutional level” for the past several months, in order to address the “migrant situation.”

What’s so shameful in this–especially on the part of the Jewish community leaders who are participating in this government-organized fear campaign–is that authorities are using precisely the same coded language to stoke the flames of fear against Muslims that they previously employed to pander to Hungarian anti-Semites. The Orbán government’s leitmotif since the Charlie Hebdo massacre is that liberal Western Europe allowed itself to be “overrun” by Muslims, and now they–and especially local Jewish communities–are paying the price. In contrast, anti-liberals like Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will protect Eastern Europe’s Jews (and the majority population), by closing the doors to Muslims and other “foreigners” who are “incapable” of ever integrating into European society, and who come from a different world and civilization, inherently at odds with ours.

What should, perhaps, make Jewish community leaders weary about collaborating with the Orbán government is the way authorities reacted to the controversy surrounding the erection of a statue to pro-Nazi interwar Hungarian politician and historian Bálin Hóman, who was sentenced to life in prison following the Second World War. At the roundtable, Jewish community leaders were told that Ministers Zoltán Balog and János Lázár “do not see in Bálint Hóman a role model, who should be commemorated through the erection of a monument.” At the same time, the government admitted that public funds are, indeed, being used to construct this statue, in honour of the late fascist politician.

In less than a year, Hungarian Jews are no longer prime  targets of the Hungarian right’s hate and vitriol in Hungary, and I would venture to say that–perhaps temporarily–the fear of the other is being stoked less against the Roma minority, and much more against the “hoards” of Muslims at the gates.

As of the beginning of August 2015, a total of 106, 309 migrants have crossed the border into Hungary, almost all of whom arrived through Serbia. Most, however, use Hungary as a transit country, heading instead to western Europe.

In quite an ironic turn if events, and copying the Canadian government’s advertising blitz in Hungarian cities like Miskolc, where they tried to dissuade Roma from claiming refugee status in Canada, the Orbán government will be launching public service announcements and erecting billboards in Syria and Afghanistan. These billboards, appearing in local languages and  dialects, will warn would-be migrants of the security barrier that Hungary is erecting along the 177 km-long border with Serbia.

And naturally Christopher can assure us that it is a huge lie, not even a single terrorist is among the refugees. They all the best friends of the jews.

    • Chris lives in a liberal fairy-tale world, parsecs away from reality. A ridiculous clown-man with the intellectual maturity of a baseball bat.

      • Yes ….of course! Because you are so intellecually mature in assuming and spreading the assumption all muslims are terrorists. Ridiculous clown-man! So being a right wing looney makes you dumb like rock?!

So, dear migrants… please prepare for the border crossing; bring a heavy duty side cutter, blanket to cover the razor wire, or visit our nearest border shop run by Mr. Lawrence Butcher where you can buy all those necessary utensils and tools on reasonable price, or if you leave the country for Austria in 24 hours you can have them duty free an receive tax refund at the exit border.

For those with children please consult with your people smugglers on where to find the nearest level crossing that are not fenced.
Also, please note that there are two border guards for every 3,2 km distance which only gives you a brief four hours of time to cross the border.
Alternatively, you might sit down at fence in a scarce four meter narrow strip of land between the fence and the Serbian border and stay in Hungarian territory and patiently wait until the police comes and opens the service door and guide you to the the inner side of the fence.

And please obey or laws, also please don’t go to London and don’t take the job of the Hungarians there.

I expect the Syrian and Afghan government will erect billboards in Hungary.

“Thank you for all your assistance and warnings, we will obey your law and do everything accordingly”

  5. Perhaps the goverment and the “official” Jewish institutions should launch a “Report an illegal migrant and/or charity worker who assists them ( a potential communist that must be denounced by a decent, mitzvah-keeping religious Jew anyway ) to the police ” campaign, or maybe even a “Friends of Israel and True Hungarians together agianst the common enemy ” campaign. It may also be worth to consider to set up groups form Jewish youth – similarly to the far-right Jewish Defence League in North America – to patrol public areas or the southern border region in order to “hunt” refugees in cooperation with Magyar Garda and the likes. Nefariousness has no borders in Hungary anyway. Just do not be surprised when all this amount lethal hatred will be turned against Hungraian Jews – most of whom lacknig the proteciton that corrupt community leaders enjoy .

  7. Once the patriots take back Europe by force through nationalist revolution, the first action they will take is to deal with cultural marxist traitors like you. No mercy to traitors! Smash cultural marxism!

    • That means you too, Richard, whoever you really are.

      • Nice piece of sockpuppeting yet you fail to make the point.
Anyway, a nice contribution too confirming what we are speaking here for long time. Fear mongering and hate speech.

What you really advocate is not revolutionary but very much counter-revolutionary. One of the several reasons, is that the policies, that the kinds of you advocate, perfectly match the interests of the ruling classes of our capitalist societies. But anyway, do you have any clue about “cultural marxism”…? For instance do the Frankfurt School or the names of people like Theodor Adorno, Max Horkheimer or Jürgen Habermas say to you something …? Well, it is never too late to widen your knowledge before making judgements in such complex issues, and appointing yourself as a judge, a law-maker and an executioner in one person …

Death to fascism, Freedom to the People!

The attitude of the writer and some of the commenters is truly remarkable. The article is written in a sarcastic tone, as if Jews would have nothing to be afraid of Moslems. Hm… Like ya’ll are living in a parallel universe…
Why don’t you consider the Jews of France? They are living in fear as threats and attacks on them are becoming a daily occurrence! And the attackers are overwhelmingly Moslems!! Do you people think that funny? Do you think that’s normal that Jews in Europe have to live under threat again, 70 years after the Holocaust ended?
France has one of the largest Jewish communities in Europe. But those people are leaving the country in droves for Israel, America, and other countries! Do you think they are leaving because they really want to? Most of them are thoroughly assimilated and integrated into society, as opposed to most of the Moslem neo- Nazis that are driving them away!
Do you people really think the same thing can’t happen in Hungary? Do you not think that ISIS has already planted plenty of sleeping agents, future suicide bombers, terrorists who are pretending to be refugees?
I’m so glad you guys think that prospect is worth such a good chuckle! It just seems to be SO FUNNY that the government of Hungary that’s most affected by this invasion is actually warning its population that what’s happening in France can happen in Hungary also? Yes, it can and it probably will if the knuckleheads in Brussels and other places don’t wake up and do something!

  10. Avatar Arpad Kovacs says:

And I haven’t even mentioned the fact that ISIS is also going after Christians in the ME and it’s just a question of time before it starts to happen in Europe also. Nobody knows how many of these migrants who are walking into Europe, and especially to Hungary, have already received their instructions for acts of terror they are supposed to carry out against targets in Europe! Today it might be just Jews; but surely, Christians won’t be far behind!
