Budapest-based photographer Beatrix Gergely had the chance to photograph a unique concert held at the Papp László Budapest Sport Arena on December 28th, 2016. The concert featured the Palladio Orchestra–one hundred guitars on stage playing an eclectic range of music, including the works of Beethoven, all the way to theme songs from major films and even music from Queen. The Palladio Orchestra combines its multifarious repertoire with not a small dose of showmanship, including dance, visuals and special effects. Not surprisingly, this has earned Palladio a role in Hungary’s televised talent show, X-Faktor. For their Budapest concert, Palladio was joined by a group called Pektorál from Ukraine. It’s worth noting that the Ukrainian and Hungarian musicians rehearsed separately for the joint concert, divided by some 1,200 kilometres, and only actually met in person in Budapest shortly before the major event.
